Jo congratulates the organisers behind Local History Week

Local MP urges residents to delve into our past and enjoy the last few days of Local History Week

Jo Swinson MP has congratulated the team at East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust for putting together a number of wonderful events to celebrate Local History Week across the community.

There’s still time to enjoy what’s on offer with some events continuing until Saturday including a guided tour of the Thomas Muir Heritage Trail starting at Cadder Church, in Bishopbriggs, at 1:30pm. And Torrance Local History Group is holding a sports afternoon at the village’s Caldwell Halls at 2pm focusing on the history of local sports and leisure activities.

In Milngavie and Bearsden you enjoy ‘Sport in Milngavie’ at the Milngavie Heritage Centre located in the Old Court Room in the Town Hall. Another great event that residents can still take part in is at the Brookwood Library in Bearsden where the Scottish Screen Archive will be showing films that feature historical Bearsden and Milngavie. A selection of photographs from the Library’s extensive local history photograph collection will also be on display.
