Local MP Jo Swinson has congratulated the young politicians elected to represent Strathkelvin & Bearsden and Clydebank & Milngavie in the Scottish Youth Parliament.
Douglas Academy’s Advaith Sastry was selected as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) for Clydebank and Milngavie and Laura Gildea and Jack Ferrie were elected to be the voice for young people in Strathkelvin and Bearsden.

“My congratulations to the winning candidates who will now have the great honour of being members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
“Young people are becoming engaged in politics in numbers never seen before and are helping shape the debate about the future of Scotland.
“The Scottish Youth Parliament has grown in strength since its formation, and is now an exciting forum for debate. I look forward to seeing the positive contributions from the MSYPs for our area over the next two years.”
- The Scottish Youth Parliament is the democratically elected voice of Scotland’s young people, consisting of 146 constituency MSYPs – two each from the 73 Scottish Parliament constituencies. MSYPs are aged between 14 and 25 years old and all MSYPs work for the organisation as volunteers.
