Local MP Jo Swinson has expressed her excitement at the 100 day milestone until the start of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games are set to be the biggest sporting event ever held in Scotland, and Jo can’t wait for her home town to be on the world stage from July 23rd to August 3rd.
Before then, East Dunbartonshire also has the Queen’s Baton relay to look forward to. On Saturday 19th July the Queen’s Baton Relay will be in Bearsden, Milngavie, Bardowie, Torrance, Lennoxtown, Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs. The stop in East Dunbartonshire is the last before the flame tours Glasgow ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
Commenting with 100 days to go, Jo said:
“The Commonwealth Games are a historic occasion for Glasgow and for Scotland. Some of the finest athletes from across the globe will compete across multiple sports in fantastic venues. So much hard work has been put into delivering these games, and with the passing of this milestone we are that bit closer to Glasgow’s big moment”.
