Future journalists are born at Lenzie Academy

Jo has congratulated pupils at Lenzie Academy on their impressive foray into the world of journalism as they graduate as BBC News School Reporters.

Five pupils visited the BBC Scotland headquarters in Glasgow and interviewed Sally Magnusson as part of a BBC competition for young journalists. The pupils conducted, filmed and edited the interview themselves, to compete for a chance to have their video report shown on BBC News 24 or the BBC online. They were also given a tour of the BBC Newsrooms, and got to watch Sally Magnusson reading the news live on air. Jo has written to the pupils to congratulate them on their graduation today, on News Day, as BBC News School Reporters.

Commenting, Jo said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for budding young journalists and I can’t wait to see the full report by the Lenzie pupils. I’m sure they’ve picked up some very valuable skills which will come in useful in their future endeavours.”
