Fun day had by all at the Kirkintilloch Show

Jo Swinson and Depute Provost Cathy McInnes attended Kirkintilloch Show yesterday to support the event and present prizes.

Cathy had the difficult job of judging the best Clydesdale horse, but eventually 1st prize went to Danny with Poacher gaining 2nd prize.

Vintage cars were also on display and created much interest

Cathy and Jo also presented the prizes to the best tractors and vintage cars. Intermittent showers didn’t spoil the fun, with families enjoying the periods of sunshine in between and the wide range of activities to watch.

Horses and sheep were judged and the dog agility performances attracted a crowd. Many children were delighted to watch the birds of prey. A tent housed many arts & craft stalls selling jewellery, local produce and handmade cards, as well as the entries of local schoolchildren for a drawing competition organised by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Jo said, “I had a thoroughly delightful afternoon at the Kirkintilloch Show, and was very impressed by the diversity of stalls and events. Huge amounts of time must have gone into the preparation – both on the part of the organisers and the participants, who have trained and groomed their animals so that they were presented in immaculate condition.”

The Show Committee are always looking for volunteers to get involved with helping the plan and organise the event. If you are interested in helping please contact Billy Stirling on 0141 776 3774 or 07831 174 123.
