Local MP Jo Swinson has nominated Finsbay in Milngavie as East Dunbartonshire’s entry for the Parliamentary Pub of the Year Competition.
The annual competition gives all MPs the opportunity to enter one pub in their local area for consideration for the title of Parliamentary Pub of the Year. After receiving nominations from residents, Jo has put forward Finsbay for a chance to win the award.
Finsbay opened its doors in 2016 and has already established an excellent reputation locally for its delicious food and inventive, classy cocktails. In August 2017, Finsbay won the ‘New Bar Award’ in the Scottish Bar and Pubs Awards. The pub’s directors are based locally. Billy Milligan from Bearsden has over 18 years of bar/restaurant industry experience and is also a coach and player for the local rugby union team West of Scotland, while director Alastair Kellock is the former captain of Glasgow Warriors and the Scottish national team.
Visiting Finsbay, Jo said:
“I was delighted to meet Billy and the team at Finsbay. The place has gone from strength to strength since it opened two and a half years ago.
“Finsbay has already established itself as a much-loved meeting point in the local community, given their record co-hosting this year’s Milngavie Food and Drink Festival and putting on events all year round for residents.
“I wish them the best of luck in the competition, and hope that the judges recognise the fantastic work that they do.”
David Carson, Operations Manager at Finsbay, said:
“We were delighted to welcome Jo to Finsbay this week, and very excited to be East Dunbartonshire’s nomination for the Parliamentary Pub of the Year competition.
“Massive thanks to everyone who wrote to Jo to recommend us for the nomination – it’s great to have your support.
“We’re currently in the process of opening a new restaurant and bar, continuing to build on our work in the local community.”
