Jo meets Douglas Academy pupils in Parliament

MP for East Dunbartonshire Jo Swinson today spoke to S4 pupils from Douglas Academy who were visiting the Houses of Parliament on a school trip.

S4 pupils from Douglas Academy were in Westminster to visit the Houses of Parliament and take part in a themed workshop in the Parliamentary Education Centre. As part of the visit, Jo spoke to pupils about working life in Westminster.

Commenting, Jo said:

“It was great to meet Douglas Academy pupils and talk to them about the day to day workings of Parliament.

“We spoke about Brexit, independence and how Parliamentary procedures like Private Members Bills can be used to campaign for change.

“It’s so important that we engage young people in politics and the democratic process, and I hope that this visit will inspire the pupils at Douglas Academy to get involved and make a difference.”
