Bishopbriggs company are Responsible Business champions

Local MP Jo Swinson today visited the offices of Environmental Reclamation Services Ltd. (ERS) to present staff with a certificate of recognition as East Dunbartonshire’s Responsible Business Champion 2018.

ERS was established in 1994 and specialises in making land safe for use and free from contamination. The company employs a team of around 30 engineers and environmental scientists to work on large projects. In over 20 years, ERS have treated over 1,000,000 tonnes of soil and successfully released hundreds of sites of land for new use.

In 2016, the company made the move to 100% employee ownership, and they now work with Scottish Enterprise to encourage other companies to become employee-owned.

Commenting, Jo said:

“I am delighted to present this certificate to the excellent and dedicated team at ERS. When I visited the company’s offices earlier this year, I was impressed by the focus they placed on responsible business.

“I hope that ERS will continue to set a positive example for other companies across the country in promoting responsible business practices.”

Andrew Mackenzie, Director of ERS said:

“ERS is delighted and proud to be nominated as a Responsible Business Champion and would like to thank Ms Swinson for this recognition.

“Since becoming an Employee Owned Business in 2016, the management and staff have all worked hard to make the company a fair, encouraging, vibrant and stimulating place to work. This move has also brought financial benefits with increased turnover and employee bonuses.

We still have much to do, but this award is a much appreciated recognition that we are on the right path.”
