£25,000 lottery windfall great for local groups – Jo

Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire is delighted that over £25,000 in funding has been awarded to local groups. The Awards for All Scotland programme awards between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local area.

The Milngavie and Bearsden Amateur Swimming Club  has received a £9000 Awards for All grant from SportScotland. The money will go to purchase electronic timing equipment enabling the club to host regular swim meet competitions and members to improve skills.

Rossvale Football Club, based in Bishopbriggs, received a £7000 Awards for All grant from SportScotland. The funds will allow them to set up a series of new football teams and playing opportunities including expanding its soccer academy for 4-6 year olds, setting up a weekly midnight league for 15-16 year olds, forming a veterans football team for the over 35s, and providing a venue to enable people with mental health issues to meet and play football.

East Dunbartonshire Initiative for Creative Therapy and Social Care, based in Kirkintilloch, will use their £9296 Awards for All grant from Big Lottery Fund to carry out a pilot programme of arts based day care activities for local older people.
