Lenzie merger to go ahead but Auchinairn and Woodhill 'called in'

The Council is going ahead with its plans to close Lenzie and Lenzie Moss primary schools and build a new school at the current Lenzie Moss site despite efforts by campaign groups such as 'Save Lenzie Schools' to have the decision called in by Scottish Ministers.

However the decision to merge Auchinairn and Woodhill Primary Schools has been called in by the Scottish Government who have concerns that the council may not have fully addressed the impact that closure of Auchinairn Primary will have on the local community.

They are also concerned that the size of the new school may not reflect the combined roll of both schools and the projected growth in the area and are seeking clarification on why the proposals on class sizes were reversed once the consultation was closed and whether the community was properly informed of the change.

The Council will not move forward with the proposal until this process is complete.
