Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire is throwing her weight behind the cross-party campaign backing Scotland's membership in the UK. The 'Better Together' campaign launched in Edinburgh, and led by former Labour Chancellor Alistair Darling, will stress the importance of close economic and political ties to people on both sides of the border.
Commenting, Jo Swinson said:
"I strongly believe that Scotland is better off as part of the UK and the UK is better off with Scotland as a part of it.
"The economic, political, social and cultural ties that bind us to other areas of the country have been hugely beneficial for Scotland.
"Our position as part of the UK gives us a seat at the top table of international talks on trade, access to markets and real clout in Europe.
"I will be doing what I can to make the case for keeping our UK family together and I hope that local residents, and all Scottish people, take the view that we are better together."
