Consultation put on hold

Following the full meeting of East Dunbartonshire Council on 27 June, the plan to move to consultation on the merging of Baldernock and Torrance Primaries has been put on hold.

The Council will postpone making a decision on the merger of rural schools until the Scottish Government implements recommendations from the Commission on the Delivery of Rural Education which will require a mixture of administrative and legislative change.

The Scottish Government is currently running a consultation that takes forward those recommendations made by the Commission on the Delivery of Rural Education which may require legislative change and is seeking views on the presumption against closure of rural schools among other matters. The consultation ends on 2 September 2013.
